As far as language goes, you can use gender nonspecific pronouns. Saying "they" or "you" rather than "he" or "she" is common the days. Yes, it can be a bit confusing when it comes to grammar and number agreement, but it’s getting more common to be vague when referring to others. Many individuals have become "they" in contemporary speech. This is a safe way to avoid being gender specific when you aren’t sure.

DEAR BEDBUG WARNING: You should call your relatives and address the situation directly. Remind them of the bites you experienced and how they brushed it off. Tell them that you learned from other relatives that they have bedbugs. Express your disappointment and anger that they didn’t tell you. Ask them to reimburse you for the expense you have incurred in order to prevent an infestation at your home.

Representative Democracy only works if the citizens actually trust their elected officials to make decisions on their behalf. There is no way that any decision will make everybody happy and sometimes the correct decision will make no one happy. The decades long impasse on how to solve the rail crossing issue clearly demonstrates that the citizens of both Palo Alto and Menlo Park simply do not trust their elected officials to make decisions on their behalf.
